Am I your new Queer writing coach?

The Who, What, Why, How, and How Much of Working With Me

Who are you?

If any of these resonate with you, you might be a perfect fit to work with me.

  • You used to love writing and you love reading but the idea of writing fiction feels scary and weird.

  • You’ve written poetry but you want to try your hand at longer form prose writing but you don’t know where to start.

  • You have an idea for a book, or three, that’s been sitting in the back of your head gathering dust that you haven’t gotten to yet.

  • You’re looking to create a deeper connection with yourself through creative writing and need help finding ways to do that that aren’t just reading The Artists Way.

  • You want to nourish your queerest, most authentic and liberated voice both on and off the page

  • You want to become a better writer with a deeper connection to your most authentic self so that you write stories and essays that align with your integrity and truth.

  • You need a bigger support system and writing and creating is something that sounds like a great way to do that.

  • You need someone to sit with you, create space and open their heart to all your creative impulses and to nurture them.

  • You want to explore and play with creativity and words in a safe and welcoming space.

  • You need some accountability and some cheerleading to make writing a priority.

  • You are writing a book and you know you work best with someone to talk through your ideas as you write them and getting a second pair of eyes on things helps you see your writing more clearly.

  • You’re trying to write something and you are feeling lost in the woods.

  • You’re losing faith in your ability to ever write a book.

  • You don’t really know but there’s something pulling you to work with me.

Types of Sessions

During our meetings together, there are a couple different ways that our time may be used. These session focuses can be mixed and matched so that each is touched on lightly during each session or deeply dig into one or two different focuses per session.

Different configurations of focus can allow for us to meet different goals. If you have a story you've written some of and want to keep moving forward but arent sure how, we might spend the first half of our time together workshopping that piece, and the second half in coaching as we talk through possible ideas and next steps.

What’s included in one session

There are many ways that we could work together.

Every new client will get a 30 minute coaching consult with me at the beginning of our work to assess where you are and where you want to go so that I can draft a working system that works best for you.

Also included in each session fee is:

  • Two email check ins stocked with mini craft lessons, prompts, and a review of goals and next steps, as well as answers to any questions that you’ve asked.

  • A single 1-hour coaching session that will focus on one or two of the session types.

Sample Possible Schedule:

You’ll note that this schedule is built on a weekly basis and built on continuing work beyond just one session. Depending on your capacity, we may want to spread this schedule out, creating a schedule of email check-ins but only one video call per-month or biweekly. We can talk through all of the possibilities together.

As a disabled person, I know that capacity can change from day to day, so if what you’ve set up with me stops working for you, tell me, and we will adjust. I create this space to help other people get nourished. It’s your space.

Unique to you Writing Craft Lessons

I don’t approach working with people with any assumptions that folks are all in the same place. If you are looking to focus on strengthening craft tools that are relevant to you, that’s great! Upon talking with you and reading some of your work, I love to create suggested craft focuses that take advantage of your strengths and feed your growth.

After reviewing the work of a past coaching client, I created this bank of craft focuses that we could dip into and focus on whenever it felt important. This helps me to create feedback, prompts, and lessons that are unique to you, your needs, and your passions. It can also help you to have topics you can focus on, have a possible topic for a future session when you’re feeling stuck or unsure of what you want to work on, an idea of things you might want to look for when reading over your own or others’ work.

How Much does it cost?

Because every person’s needs are different, the cost may be a bit different depending on the kind of work you would like to do with me. Below you’ll find my basic coaching costs. If you’d like more feedback and less video sessions, more email check in’s over a longer period of time, or a singles specialized session, I can create a quote specially for you.

All first time coaching clients get a free 30 minute onboarding call to make sure we’re a good fit and so I can tailor our work together to your wants and needs.

  • Your name and pronouns

  • What you’re working on

  • What you’re looking for help or support with, including any accessibility needs

  • Your general availability

I’ll follow up in 1-3 business days to get our free consultation on the schedule for us to align, get to know each other, and start the process of working together.

Each coaching partnership is unique because each persons’ history, journey, trauma, heart are different.

If you show up to our consult and don’t feel 100% held and supported, feel free to let me know, walk away, or whatever you need to do.

If I’m not what you’re looking for but you still want coaching, I’ll do my best to share some recommendations with you.

I want you to flourish.

I want you to tell your story.

I want you to feel empowered enough to shout it from rooftops if you want.

If your path there isn’t with me, then that’s great too.

If your path is with me, I’m looking forward to getting to know you whenever you’re ready.
